#51? #55? I’ve looked in the books and can’t find the answer. Seems like the bulbs in mine that light up the buttons are too dim. Thinking they’re the wrong ones but what do I replace them with?

Jake, Both 51 and 55's-- 55's in the buttons and coin window--51's in all else. Ron Rich

The manual calls for a #55 Mazda lamp in the coin window. What is that? It looks just like the #55s that light the buttons.

Steve, Mazda is what that type of lamp was called until about the 60's--sorta like a "Mason Jar"-- which got tacked onto every brand. May have been an Edison patent, which had to be used, and royalties paid ? I have seen "Edison Mazda" GE, and Westinghouse brand, lamps marked "Mazda" ? Ron Rich

Interesting. I noticed the #51 bulbs didn't look like the ones in my program holder and it turns out that's because mine came with 44s in it. I just ordered some 44 LED replacements. Will be interesting to see how they look and last.

I received the LED lamps today and tested them out. These are the frosted warm white ones. They don't seem quite as bright as the incandescents but part of that may be due to the frosting. I put them in all locations except for the select light since it's a little harder to get to. For the selector buttons and coin slot I think unfrosted would work better. They're just a little too large for the coin slot but they will fit. Unfortunately even though they're "warm white" they still have a blue/green hue that's not as appealing as the incandescents. Close but no cigar IMO. LED: Incandescent:

Steve, You came to the same conclusion, that I came too several years ago-- I operate these in a restaurant, and got nothing but "complaints" about not being able to read the title strips, from customers-- back to incandescents-- for now-- Ron Rich

They seem bright enough to read the title strips to me. It's just the greenish hue that's not so attractive.

Hi Steve, I agree--I thought I could read the strips OK--but customers complained ? I settled on the LED in the coin window, and one LED and one incand. in the strip illumination. Ron Rich

The LED works well in the selection indicator light. It's green anyway...

Steve. LOL--if you are leaving the WOM on freeplay it may--but the # 51 used in com-coin play, lasts for years there, as few people leave it lit too long ! Ron Rich
