So I'm guessing after 21 views that this is correct and the way it was in 1981?

Hello Clinton,
There is a diffuser strip above the keyboard. Certainly on the R-84, R-85, R-86 & R-88 there was a 21 inch tube above the keyboard.

There is a florescent bulb but there wasn't anything to diffuse the light, so when I got the machine there was 3 open slots that the light would be blinding coming out of. I covered the holes with a piece of imitation gold vinyl and it looked like other pictures I've seen except for the buttons (especially Reset, Popular and Change return) being dimmer then the number keys.
