I have what I think is an issue with the playrac assembly on this 3100. I didn’t notice this at first but the unit had two bad coils and had been modified for what I assume to be an attempt at free play. The owner wants it on coin play so I rewound the coils and got the mechanism back together (correctly I think). The question I have is that it doesn’t seem to accumulate coins. It’s currently set for one play for a dime, two for a quarter and 5 for half dollar. The pricing card says 5 for half dollar or two quarters which implies to me that it should accumulate coin credits. Individually all three coin selections work as they are supposed to for the first coin however adding additional coins doesn’t increase beyond the initial count. Meaning one quarter will give you two plays and a second quarter does nothing unless the first credits are played down first. Same thing with dimes.
As always, any help is appreciated.

Scott, I am guessing here-- the unit was probably placed on "free play", by winding the credit wheel spring in reverse ? If so, all you need to do is tension the spring the other way, so that when any + coil is energized the spring pulls the wheel against the stop -- Also--why were two coils "burned" ?? Check the operation of the Circuit Breaker !! & coin switches--- Ron Rich

Hey Ron,
Thanks for the tip. I'm familiar with the spring trick and I don't think that was the case. There was a badly deteriorated rubber band and two brass washer/bushing pieces rolling around in this so I think they made some kind of tension array against that wheel. The coils were bad because the coin switches were mangled and the breaker was replaced with a 10 amp slo-blo.
The mech does credit correctly for a single coin, just not for more than one.

Hi Scott, Only a 10 amp slo blo Whut--he could not afford a 25 amp fuse ?? That spring should pull the credit wheel in the "add credit" direction when the detent is released by any coil --You will need to figure out why it's not doing that-- Ron Rich
