On my r83 the carousel stops fine on each and every selection but overshoots the stopping point about 1/8 of an inch. gripper compensates because it has a wide enough grabbing point. When it pulls the record out of the carousel it slightly rubs the record against the wire rack of the carousel. Is there a way to adjust this?? don't think its the photo sensor but maybe something on the brake assembly can be adjusted so it stops the carousel dead center on the gripper.

Hello Albert, if your jukebox is the 1979 R-83 it does not have a photo sensor (opto switch) these were only introduced on the CTI-2, and R-84 upward.
In your manual you need to turn to page 2-47 Alining Magazine Stopping Position with Transfer Arm, it shows the adjustment f the pinion & plate assembly, part number 3-05181-01 on the adjustment page it just calls it a nylon gear.

yes Ron, one screw tightened tight and the other as suspect so I went light with it. I made the adjustments according to the manual thanks to AMI man's suggestion. works great now. You guys are great and now would like to add that I gave my brother the f120 for my cost. and he is so happy. I wanted a machine that shows the records actually being played so I removed the dollar acceptor in my r83 and put a small LCD monitor with a Small security camera inside and this is what I have. wont let me send. file is too big.. but here is a pic.

Hi Albert, That's a great idea-- I like seeing the records play too-- on that "suspect" screw-- I would suggest you remove it coat the threads with red glypt, and re insert it-- You should never have to re-adjust that again, but if glypt is used, it will hold that screw tight till turned. Ron Rich

Hello Albert I am glad that we were of help to you.
I have always liked the R-83 Disco version and for that matter the R-82 Black Magic.

Albert, Love the video! I nearly had one of these last week but I was second in the cue. I'll be looking at a R-83 Claremont today. Funny thing is they told me they cant get in it. The lock is missing off the door and maybe the spring on the latch is holding the locking mech in place? Tom

That's a great idea with the monitor and camera in there. At some point pretty early on the public's fascination with watching the mechanism must have faded, as all the big brands of jukes started hiding everything from view. I never understood that, although I suppose as jukes started holding more than 20 or 50 records, you needed the real estate to display all the title tags.
