Hi Gang,
So, I have been on the hunt for some grill cloth for my 1958 Rockola (1458), because mine is rather stained and in poor condition. The challenge though has been to find something that is mostly silver, but also with some black in it, that has a 1950's period look to it.
I have looked high and low, rather like trying to find some clothing for my wife, hard to get all the criteria to come together in one. I would find something big enough, but it just didn't look right, or with a great look, but disappointed to find that it was only 4 inches in diameter.
Of course I tried the main Jukebox parts companies, and they have pieces big enough, but I didn't think the look was going to be right.
After all my searching the best looking material and best fit I was able to find for my machine was through and Italian company that makes and sells accessories for accordions called Bossetto Accordions, and they sell what they call Grille Linings for accordions. Only problem, their material all comes in the same size, 18 inches times 7 inches. The material looked so good though that I even thought about buying six or so pieces and trying to sew them together! LOL
I wrote the company in Italy asking them about the possibility of getting a larger piece, but no response. They also sell them on Ebay, so I wrote that person a request as well. No response until today, when the gal who distributes their products said it was unusual, but that she could sell me a large enough piece to cover my Jukebox Grill! So, I pulled the trigger on it today, and now like one of my children at Christmas time am waiting for it to arrive.
I am also quite glad and excited because once it arrives I can also begin to put so many things back together, and I couldn't do some things until I got the grill cloth issue resolved.
What is it they say, "Patience is a virtue"? Won't know for certain till it arrives, but in this case I am glad that I didn't settle for just anything.
So, no problems or issues today, just wanted to share some good news with you, and to let you know this company may be another option for you also.
These two samples are what I thought was closest to my original. Particularly the one on the left, though I really like the one on the right a lot too.
