Hi folks, starting to get stuck into some cosmetic jobs on my newly bought Rockola 1454. The next two items on the list is to remove the three chromed kick plates at the front of the machine so I can clean them and remove some surface rust or possibly have them rechromed. They seem to be held in place with an aluminium strip but there is no visible signs of how this is held in place. It seems to be spring loaded in some way, but I do not want to force it off as this may damage the aluminium. Just wondered if any member has carried out this operation in the past and hopefully they could share their technique. Also I need to remove the coloured glass panel where it illuminates the chromed "icicles" at the front of the machine. Over the years the colour has all but disappeared, so this will need repainted. Again, if any member could let me know how to go about it, that would be appreciated. I am guessing that the selector panel will need to come out and everything should come out from the top. Just wondering if there is a right or wrong way of doing this, because the manual has no reference to this. It does however show you how to remove the selector panel which looks straightforward enough. Once that has been removed, where should I go from there? Any help and guidance would be appreciated. Gary

Hi Gary, Can you post pics of the inside and out side area you want to remove--I'm pretty sure I've done it but it's probably been at least 40 years-- see if the photo's jog my great, but not too long memory--- Also--remember, that phono probably has had at least one "bath" in beer, or Coke-- thus gluing stuff together -- LOL-- Ron Rich
