Hey all, I have a Wurlitzer 3500 and am trying to get the coin mechanisms working, instead pic free play. Tonight I removed the coin register mechanism to possibly make sombre adjustments and or find possible problems. As I started to do adjustments I found that the cancel wheel and mounting assembly are missing. Is this the way to make this jukebox free play? And buy replacing this part willI be able to make the coin operation work? This is my first jukebox so am still learning a lot. Loving every minute of it, so any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Ryan

Hi Ryan, Got the Service Manual ? If so, it should answer your question(s)-- If you do not have one, check the FAQ's above for a supplier. Is this phono equipped with a Play rack, or a BO/AC? Ron Rich

Hey Ron thanks for replying. Yes I do have a manual, but can't find anything in it about free play. And this jukebox has a Playrak. I know I'll need the cancel wheel to get the coin working properly, I was just curious if someone removed it to make it free play. Thanks again for responding. Ryan

Hi Ryan, READ "ATTN:Newbies", above, in FAQ's, for your question's answer ! Yes--of course you need all of the parts in the "Playrac" ( WurliTzers TM name for a "pricing unit"). Might be less expensive finding a used one from one of the suppliers listed in the FAQ's above ? Ron Ron Rich

Hi Ron, I checked the "Newbies" section but couldn't find any answers to my questions. I did buy another working Playrak and followed the instructions in my manaual to properlay adjust every aspect of it. When I plug it in the "select" light went out which I thought was promising. When I dropped a quarter into it, it fell to the coin bag but didn't register. I didn't have a half dollar to try, but it seems my 25 cent coin switch doesn't have power. I was also confused in my manual when it says "set all pricing stop levers to coincide with coin denomination instruction label". Is that the levers on the indexing strips, and if so, what do I set them to? My instruction label says " Deposit half dollar- singles 5- LP albums 2 sides, 2 quarters- singles 5- LP albums 2 sides, quarter- singles 2- Lp albums 1 side". Also in my trouble shooting section it says to replace Buss SLO-BLO FUSE. Where do I find this fuse? All the fuses I find have good continuity. Please help...thanks Ryan

Hi Ryan, It's there !! ("--jukeboxes were designed to --MAKE money-! " lol-- Anyway--if you purchased it from EPay, was it offered as is, or working ? ( that's why it says to deal with "legit" suppliers--eBay stuff rarely works correctly !) OK look at your new unit and the Service manual --is the coin switch assembly connected to the Playrac ? I don't know why the manual referenced an 8/10 amp SB fuse, as that was eliminated years before in favor of a circuit breaker, which should be evident as a red push-button on the front of your new, and old, Playrac. Look at the parts manual section, and you will see this. Look at the "key switch, is it open, or closed ? Find the three coin coils, stick your finger on the pole piece, and each one should release the credit wheel as per the settings for each coil. If they move using your hand and you can subtract a tooth using the sub coil, your unit should work ? Ron Rich

Hi Ron, Ha ha, I understand the "newbies" part now! So yes I bought it off of ebay and it said working. I believe the Playrak is working, I think there is a problem with the coin switches on the slug rejector. When a quarter is dropped into it, the switch closes, but it doesn't register in the coin register. This is the part that doesn't seem to be getting power, and where the manual says check the fuse. I don't know where to find this fuse. Yes you are correct about the circuit breaker with the red button, sorry if I wasn't clear enough before. Thanks Ryan

Ryan, Same two questions--1. Is the coin switch section plugged into the Playrac ? 2. As far as I know, the "fuse" was eliminated years before, and a Circuit breaker installed in it's place--Is that CB tripped/good/ ? --New question, --If you slide the "free Play button" on the keyboard, can you make a selection ? Ron, The slug rejector and coin switches are plugged into the Playrak. Yes the CB works when pushed. Yes the "free play button" did work. When I manually flip the coin switches, I can hear and can feel something happening in the Playrak, but nothing moves. So what would be next? Also what should the accumulator stops be set too? Thanks, Ryan

What do you mean by "---the CB works when pushed " ? The CB should reset and continue to work if pushed ?? Set the stops per the manual and what you want to happen -- Ron Rich

OK, when the CB is pushed, a buzzing sound comes from the coin mechanism and the selection solenoid draws in which in turn makes the select lamp come on. I am able to make a selection. Also the manual doesn't tell me what to set the stop levers to, I've read it a hundred times and can't find it.--Ryan

If you "hear" a sound when you push the CB it indicates one or more of your coin switches is closed. They should NOT be closed unless/until a coin is falling thru them --fix this situation prior to burning out a coin coil ! Levers are set as you desire pricing--read what's on them ---If not in your manual, you do not have the Manual set--Ron Rich

Ok so I cleaned the cube relays, in the coin mechanism, and the coin operation started working. When a quarter is dropped I sometimes get 1 play, 2 plays, or 3 plays. I'm assuming this is just some adjustments needing to be made. As far as the stop levers being adjusted to the manual, mine does not say anything about them. My manual is a 1971 Wurlitzer 3500 Service Manual. If you're saying this is not the correct manual, then I don't know what would be. Are there updated manuals made since 1971? If so, maybe they have more info...I don't know. Thanks, Ryan

I really don't remember, but I have seen the instructions somewhere in print. Look at the slides--one should say "dime", it should be set at what ever you want for a dime--same for quarter--other one I think says 5 cents, OR, 50 cents- set them as per your pricing card.

Ryan,
If there's a coin denomination switch on the playrak, ensure it is set to 10-25-50, rather than 5-10-25.
To coincide with that pricing card, the '25" lever gets set to 2, the "50" lever gets set to 5. Even though dimes aren't specifically listed on the pricing card, I'd set '10' lever to '1'; at least that's what I've done for my 3500, anyway.
Of course, that's just one man's opinion. :-#}
Regards,
Matthew
