Looking online I see Oil grades have changes from monogrades to multigrade designations.
If I understand it correctly 20W-50 for example is 20W at cold temperatures and becomes 50W at hotter temperatures (100degC). Is this an acceptable alternative for SAE20 monograde?

I just got a seeburg 100...i know nothing about these machines but want to make sure it is being maintained properly. i know it was sitting in a dry basement for 40 years plus... i brought it home and works fine but then decide to get stuck on k9 and plays that record over and over
the manual is a mess and does not show anything really about proper oiling cleaning or maintenance
can anyone guide me as to where do i begin?

Hi Jay, I would assume it would-- in Singer Sewing Machines--after all ain't that what it says it's for ? I would not use it in a jukebox ! Ron Rich

Reading through this thread, I do have a question. For the big gears that power everything in the mech. Mine has grease in it. I did not apply the grease. Is that going to be a problem? Also, has anyone heard of Mike "Zoo" Carrol? He did a restoration special on a 100-R back in the mid 90s.

I think what I have is a black molly grease. Some basic machine grease. It's a mess, would not mind getting some of it out. From my understanding 20 wt motor oil is all you should use on the machine, maybe white lithium grease on gears but nothing heavy weight

Hi Edison, Please re-read the sticky on Phono Lubrication, in our FAQ's section. Are you speaking of the 45 rpm mech, or the earlier "Freeborg" mech ? Ron Rich
