Hello all, I've got a Rowe CD100 that's been in my office for years, recently it started getting static over the tracks on about the 3rd of 4th song, which continues to get worse until you can't hear the song (only static). I've cleaned the laser, tried many different CDs and left it unplugged for a week, and none of those have had any effect. I reached out to Bruce Wentworth, who said I need to replace my CDM 3 Mech Controller, but that he does not offer them. Any other thoughts or does anyone have a controller to sell? We love this machine, but it's not something that we are considering putting $500-$900 in to replace the entire CD player with a pro mech. Thanks!

Hi Huck, There is usually an EZ fix for that -- Solder the power plug directly to the (Rowe) board-- re-solder all other points on the DAC (Phillips) & Rowe boards. Try it-- no harm in doing so-- Ron Rich

Ron, so basically bypass the connectors? I'm not much of an electronics guy, so you'll have to speak slowly to me on this ;-)

OK run the unit until it starts to mess up-- then carefully put your hand on the small gray plugs-- bet the one on the rear is HOT ! That connector usually faild, and must be eliminated-- open up the unit-- the green board is the Rowe board-- check the headers, they were usually OK on that board ( see the sticky above !). The other "goldish colored" board is the Phillips board. You can usually see a dis-colored patch in the corner-- re solder all connections in that area. Ron Rich
