Hi Guys, i pulled out a Wurlie 2000 i bought 25 years ago. It's ruff, real ruff. the Tonearm is a Turquoise color that has seen better days. I've seen a few restored 2000's on the internet and i was wondering if anyone had a specific color, brand that they used that worked? I have tested a few colors, either to blue or green.
Any suggestions appreciated. KC

Hi Mark, Pull that tone arm off and take it to a local paint store--Most today can computer match, any color, perfectly --- (Do not loose the spring !!!) Ron Rich

Hi Ron, As i have never taken off one these tone arms, what is this spring you speak off? it looks to me that there is a nut on the bottom side of the tone are that is attached to a post, i'm going to assume if i remove that nut with some weird tool, the arm will come off and the spring will go flying?

Hi KC, Do not recall--but I think it's basically the same on all model WurliTzers from the 1700 thru the 3300. Push inward on the bottom (cart. side) of the tone arm, and it should spring out-- If not "compressed in place" the spring that pushes out, tends to fly out of it's holder during shipment. Just tie a string/ribbon around it to keep it compressed. Ron Rich

I believe its the same as my 2300. I just took the tone arm off of mine today to work on the cartridge. I find it quite easy to remove the 2 phillips screws at the pivot/perch where the whole tone arm assembly is mounted to the mechanism arch. Then unplug the cartridge wire harness and work the plug out thru the large hole that it goes thru on the mech arch. Like Ron sez, be careful not to loose the fine cone shaped coil spring that creates the needle to record pressure. I also like to drape a light hand towel over the record magazine directly below the screws you loosen in case one gets dropped - it won't get lost deep down in the magazine.

Great idea about the towel ! I also use a very "magnetic" screw driver-- but the above gent has no reason to remove the tone arm--not necessary to remove it to transport the phono--only restrict it ! Ron Rich

Thanks to both of you. I have had plenty of screws, springs go falling through box's, always a treat looking for them, I've done it so much-I've gotten good at it. Ha HA. KC
