Maybe someone can help I have a Model 600 fired it up and record tray comes out with record shaft raises record to needle attempts to play then record tray attempts to retract back into spot but can’t because shaft is in the way causing record to stop spinning and not play. This action is done continually. Selector pin assembly randomly selects tray number then gets stuck ? Can anyone help ? Thanks

Check the turntable raising arm underneath. It should be retracting downward before the tray returns. If it is retracting and the turntable stays up, then the shaft is sticking. Likely needing clean and lube. It sounds like there may be more than one issue, but get the turntable shaft freed up first. Cheers, Russie

Thanks for reply. I lubed and cleaned turntable shaft. When shaft raises to play record empty record ring should stay out until record is finished correct ? Well it doesn’t it attempts to close and can not due to turntable shaft. I believe is shouldn’t close while record is playing correct ? Could it be a selector pin or button problem ? I have video if you’d like to see ..... seems almost like the same record is being selected over and over like it’s stuck without the record having a chance to play which it is attempting to do ? Any help would be great thanks ....

Yes, the record tray should stay up against the stop, and not be able to return until the turntable has dropped. Okay, the next possibility is that the segment gear is out of adjustment. You'll have to tackle that in steps, but the first step is to get the trays working correctly. To do that, put the machine into play and when the turntable comes up to the play position, shut the power off (pull the plug). Go to the back of the machine and observe the position of the Finger that moves up and down in the groove formed by the notches in the vertical row of record trays. That finger should be approximately positioned in the middle of the record tray for the record selected, when the machine is in the playing position. If it is not, you can move it into the appropriate position by manipulating the linkage. Some dis-assembly of linkage may be necessary. Check to be sure the correct tray is being selected (according to which button is selected). Adjust it by removing the cotter pin at the bottom and rotating the shaft accordingly. Since the adjustment can be changed enough so that the finder moves through at least three different record trays, be sure the tray you adjust to corresponds to the button selected. BTW, is this a keyboard or rotary model? What is the link for the video? Cheers, Russie
