Guyz, Iffin I had one to bet, I would bet my bippy that the back-stop pawl adjustment is slightly off-- I shall right a sticky, on that subject write now ! Ron Rich

Hi Eugen, If you've had these pawls off, then that will be the issue. There's a procedure in the manual to set them up.

Someone told me that the notch in the gear tooth under the carousel should be in d25/26 position, not in a1/a2.
Would anyone be able to confirm this? I always thought it should be under a1/a2...
Also how do I confirm that the latch under carousel has latched into the shaft pin properly?

Hi Eugen, I don't know exactly what you mean about gear tooth location. You can tell that that the carousel is latched in the shaft pin by popping a selection pin and turning the carousel manually until the selection pin is engaged, if you can then still move the carousel, it's not latched.

The "star wheel" under the record basket / carousel has one notched tooth. I thought that notched tooth was supposed to be under A1/A2 record position. Apparently it is under D25/D26 record. I tried multiple selector pins, and every single record comes up off by 1 selection.
I also went and bought a set of springs at a local hardware store. They're all made of some weaker metal... I cut off piece of one spring, installed the rest onto mute/play switch, and that new spring is holding the switch in the left position well. Went through a couple of cycles correctly.

OK, another update... my shoulder hurts after unscrewing and screwing in 52 screws.
Now the mech picks correct records woohoo.
Going back to my issues list. Will tackle them in this order:
1) Motor is definitely struggling and sometimes mech is making squealing noises when going through tougher parts of the cycle... Do I need to readjust the motor position relative to the big gear? I think I lubed everything, but I have to find the spot where it is struggling. 2) Buttons latch, but selector does not respond to ANY button combination. 3) Select light comes on right away when I turn on the jukebox. This may not be an issue; I put a coin into the mech, and everything moves and rotates; maybe there is just credit in there already. 4) Amplifier plays too quiet and distorted, even at max volume. I will have to disconnect the oscillator circuit after all, and inject the signal directly to first amplifier stage to confirm that it is working. Unless there is another way to troubleshoot. Will go and buy new bridge rectifier to replace selenium one too.
5) For my own information - does this jukebox do anything if it does NOT have a record in the selected slot? Mine just keeps "playing", unlike my Rowe AMI jukebox, which would cancel and go back to rest.

Eugen, It sounds like a WurliTzer to me ? Can you hear it with the cabinet doors closed ? Ron Rich

LOL Ron... The cabinet is very dirty and sitting in the garage waiting for its turn. I will start working on it when I'll get mech and amp working. The motor does sound tired, and it is slower than what I see in some youtube videos of 1900. I'll clean and oil the mech and moving parts a little more, will play with the motor, and will report back.

Eugen, Have you oiled the large oil wick that lives below the record carrier ? Ron Rich

Ron, yes, I definitely oiled it a few times when the record carrier was off.
So I cycled the mechanism several times by hand rotating the large gear without motor connected. The most difficult step is to pull out the record clamp. It is definitely harder to do compared to even lowering the record lift arms.
Looks like I also had record lift arms crooked because I pushed them a bit by the rollers on each side. Disassembled everything, adjusted those rollers, so they just roll on the arms. Then slightly readjusted those back pawls in the front. I will relube the main big gear and will reinstall the motor back.
The pulling out record clamp part - is it supposed to be this difficult, or is it out of adjustment?

I put a meter on the output of the selenium rectifier. 35 VDC with no load. 28V when rotating carousel, 24V when pushing cam and springs. It's not bad. I'll still change it when I'll be checking oscillator in the amp eventually.

Noisy mech aside, I'll move onto the next issue for now... When I just picked up this jukebox, it used to respond to some buttons selection on the front.
Now it does not respond at all.
1) If I connect coin register mechanism, I get 'select' light, I can push buttons, they will latch, but that's it. They will stay latch - no response from selector. 2) If I disconnect coin register mech, no 'select' light, latching solenoid is off. I push 'free play' button, and there is no response at all.
What should I be looking for? The schematic just shows wires between the boxes... Thank you

I keep reading the manual but I don't get this step by step stuff... Looks like timing relay 1 is responsible for more of holding the credit and getting the buttons to latch. So makes sense when I connect coin register to the system that my button latching solenoid latches up right away (I don't know how to zero the credit on the coin register).
Then my understanding is that timing relay 2 is responsible for further steps between button selector unit and the actual selector unit. I will have to check voltages on the contacts behind buttons, but I know those contacts should work and make/break properly - I cleaned them and adjusted a couple just a bit.

Eugen, How do you "know" these contacts "should work" ? READ, our FAQ's section on contacts--- and you will know, and you will, be sure ! Ron Rich
