Guys have a AMI J-200 that will pick the record place it on the turntable then put it right back without playing it. Just looking for a direction as to what to check. This isn't my jukebox but I do have a AMI JAN-200 myself so I do have the service manual for the JAN. Thanks for any help. Rich

Hi Rich, Is that a J-200 M, or a J-200 E ? In either case find all of the reject switches, and be sure they are all "open". Was this phono just "transported" ? If so, was the tone arm properly supported ? Ron Rich

Yes it was moved. It went from one part of the house to another. Said it worked fine then stopped after the move. 🤔

Then suspect the reject switch on the back of the cabinet is stuck , or the tone arm has bounced about the reject switch there. Ron /rich

Ron thanks for the reply I now have the mech at my house still the same problem ejects without playing. I also have the same model at my house which is mine. So thinking was to compare one to the other. First someone replaced the tonearm with one from another model. Checked the micro switches and noticed the wiring was different from that on my unit. So changed it all to match. Good idea not really! Someone pulled the speed shift out of the unit so that is most likely why it was wired differently. Any chance of someone having a wiring diagram that shows the shift coil out of the unit.

The sped shift coil should make no difference in reject operation-- Did you disconnect the two, or 3, reject switches on the mechanism ? 'Ron Rich

Now after redoing the wiring to match the unit I have it will search and then do nothing were at least before it would pull the record then put back right away. No I did not mark were the wires were before sooooooooooo. Not sure. Have three other mechs maybe I'll try bring one of them back to life as they look a little better then the one with this problem. Thanks again for all your help.

Ron after thinking about this problem for sometime I brought my other pair of eyes down to take a look at the wires ( I'm color blind ) My wife found the color difference in two wires I had backwards. So got it back to the original problem. Someone had changed out the tone arm and whoever did it used the adjustment screw on top to get it past the transfer arm. Well that was the eject problem readjusted the tone arm and all is good again. Thanks
