Hello all,
Hopefully this is the last issue I have with this machine. The cartridge likes to slightly slip out of the tonearm when playing a B side, or when the brush cleans the stylus. Short of changing the tone arm for a tighter fit, are there any recommendations for a weak adhesive that would hold the cartridge down?
Thank you,
Dalton

Hi Dalton, I don't understand--the cartridge on a SMC is the same as on all Seeburgs from the SS-160 on. It's supposed to be "locked into" the holder by the spring action of the Nylon base inserted into the tone arm-- Is the whole (white) Nylon base being lifted up, or is the needle shank pulling out of it's mounting hole ?

Ron,
The nylon base is secure, it's the 4 pins coming out of the cartridge that pull out just enough that I lose the left channel until I reseat the cartridge.
I forgot to mention that the front plastic side of the tonearm that would cover the base and the front of the cartridge is missing, if that makes any sense.
I'll try to snap a picture of it later if it will help any.

Hi Dalton, Without a photo, sounds as if this has been treated rough--my best guess, would be a small piece of "Scotch Magic tape" wrapped around the cart and tone arm--as a temporary fix till you purchase a new cartridge, socket with wires--- Ron Rich

P. S. If the needle brush is lifting the cartridge, I would suspect the "Pick up lifting adjustment" has had someone, "adjusting on it" ! The brush should just wipe the tip on the needle--not lift up on the needle or cartridge ? !

Attached is the best photo I could get of it. A car is blocking the front piece in right now. I'll have a look at the pick up adjustments and do them per the manual if and where they differ.

Hi Dalton. Photo is fine--only thing missing is the rest of the white nylon socket, this happens when someone fails to follow the instructions on "supporting" the socket while removing the cartridge--cart looks OK--except "Pickering" sticker is missing--you should cover that open space with a small piece of tape to prevent "stuff" from entering the cartridge--on both sides, if missing on the back side too.

Thank you Ron, I'll stick some tape over it later when I find a roll.
