Hi, I have a Wurlitzer Carnegie cd-50 jukebox. All I am getting is the first number of the display showing zero. All the other three are dead and nothing works. The amplifier has two LED's. one red mute and one green. The carousel goes round when I pull the lever. Any help would be gratefully appreciated. Barry

Sorry, The only details I can find is Wurlitzer Carnegie cd-50 jukebox. There does not appear to be a model number that I can find. I have updated the post. Barry

Ron, It's a Deutsche Wurlitzer jukebox, The archive at jukebox-world.de has details and in most cases pictures, if you ever feel the urge to study them! Norman.

Hi Guyz, Thanks for the info-- at least I now know I know nothing about i -- other then to guess -- If the electronics are like the early WurliTzer OMT's, --is the lamp burning that controls the record basket location ? Is the "K" mini-switch working--correctly ? Are the two violet wires fastened to the connector to that switch ( I have seen more then a few bad crimps, at that point) ? Ron Rich

Thanks for your help, Ron. There is a lamp in front of the basket, that looks OK. The 'k' mini switch looks OK and sounds ok when I move the lever. I can't see the contacts properly without removing it. I will do that next. All the threads I have read have not mentioned the single zero on the display being linked to this switch, but I will check it anyway. Barry

Hi Barry, If the record gripper is over the basket, you should NOT be able to hear it "click", as the actuating arm (white plastic) should be holding it "pushed down"-- (see our FAQ's section, for info on "mini switch" checking). Those actuating arms split, and slip, very often, I replace them with a small hex head, screw actuated, hose clamp--just push the original actuator aside-- Ron Rich

Your right, the actuating arm has slipped. I will adjust it with the allen screw for now and get back later with the results.Well it broke when I tried to tighten the allen key so I will have a look tomorrow for something to replace it.

OK, things are looking brighter. 'K' is fixed. I now get a display 0101 but the 1-9 buttons and reset don't do anything. I've been trying to read the circuit diagram but it is too complicated for me. I have the machine set for freeplay, but nothing. It did pick up a disc once and put it on the cd player when I pressed LT. (top pressure arm flap did not come down) It then put it back when I pressed LT again, but it hasn't done this since. I will keep trying. I think I have multiple faults. I will keep this thread going as long as I can as it might help others.

Barry, Does the S&CC have a jumper for battery on/off ? If so, put it on the off terminal, when the power is off--- then fire up the phono-- what does it do ? Ron Rich

Hi Ron, It does have a battery memory jumper. I put it to the off position. Powered up and I have the same 0101 and no number buttons work. I tried pressing the 'LT' button, but that done nothing. Checked the cables the best I could. They all seem to be seated properly.

Barry, What happened when you powered it up ? Did the basket search for home -- did the LED on the S&CC flash as it searched ? Is it set up for "Free Play" ? If not, did you add credits ?

Hi Ron, When I power it up the basket does not search for home nor did the led flash, except on one occasion it did search and 'z' flashed. Makes me think I may have a loose connection somewhere or bad relay contacts, It is set up for 'free play'. I plugged it in this morning and it searched for home again and landed on the first disc. I turned the carousel with the lever to the middle and unplugged it, when I plugged it back in, nothing but the same problem. It has searched for home now on about 4 occasions. It is very intermittent. It will work on about 1 in 10 times, although until last night it did not do this cycle at all. I have been looking to see what procedure happens in what order, but find the information confusing. The circuit diagrams are not very clear either. Do you think this is 'relay contacts' somewhere?
I've now noticed that the search happens more frequently after I have had the machine turned off for some time. Could this be a capacitor at fault?
I can now confirm that it searches each time I leave the machine off for a while (about twenty minutes). This has only started happening today. What about something gummed up and slowly releasing? Please excuse all my ideas. I am trying to learn.

Hi Barry, Do you have the trouble shooting guide for that model ? What is the number on your S&CC ? Ron Rich

Hi Ron, I have the trouble shooting guide, but it hasn't been much help. The s&cc is model 40314. I did change all the BC337 transistors as they advised and also changed the 22uf capacitor which stopped the machine from constantly picking up a cd and putting it back. It does search for home every time I put it on after I have left it switched off for about 15 minutes with the memory jumper set to off.
