OK, It gets better and worse. The diagram from the Marantz CD65 is the same and I found a tiny SMD transistor had failed so that the CD player was not getting -12v. That cured most of the problems. The laser goes to the correct position for reading the TOC, and the disk doesn't go backwards but it is still not reading disks even though I replaced the CDM-3. He said it worked? I have a replacement cd control board, but I have to fix a fault with it first. Barry

It's getting better. The fault was on the TOC board. The big IC. I changed the whole board. I managed to get a faulty CD controller from England for £25. All working apart from no sound. The amplifier is OK. The fault is on the main DAC board. I did get sound once after a while. I will have a look tomorrow.
