When a the needle first lands on a record that is about to play there's a noise through the speaker, then disappears as the record plays. At the end of the record just when needle lifts off the record, same noise occurs. Any ideas why this happens? Play/mute switch?

Popping sound very short duration when needle hits records and when lifts off.

Stereo, or mono model-- DC or AC basket/lift arms motor ? Ron Rich

Stereo model. I cleaned the play/mute switches and that solved the problem.
