Hi - my 2300s works perfectly in all respects except that it’s recently stopped playing any selection ending in 4. The buttons just stay down, no fuses blow, but I have to turn on and off again at mains to get the buttons back up and play a different selection. Any help gratefully received!

Hi Belmondo, Using my great powers of reasoning I was given, I would need to assume that this problem is likely the #4 switch itself--dirty/broken ? --ONCE again ASSuming nothing else has been done to the phono, to cause it-- Ron Rich

If only .. but apologies for not enough info originally. The button works fine, it engages the contacts the same as all the other buttons - wiring looks fine, I’ve tried tracing it beyond the contacts but cannot see anything different from what happens when other buttons are pressed. With the carousel disengaged the button doesn’t stick down and moves freely. Any ideas where else to look for the problem? Thanks.

Belmondo, Are you "looking", or "measuring", with an Analog meter ? Ron Rich

I'll also do some assuming - assuming you've checked the 4 button correctly, the next port of call would be the plug/socket at the base of the mechanism. You should be able to trace the 4 button from the manual. I have an analog(ue) meter but it's so big and unwieldy that I rarely use it. A small battery wired to a lamp is a simple alternative for continuity checks.
