I've got a 1936 Wurlitzer 412 and was looking for guidance on the type of finish for the wood, high-gloss, semi-gloss, satin? After 85 years of neglect what was left of the original finish didn't give me a clue. Thanks.

The accepted finish (by restorers) is a lacquer finish. Semi-gloss is the most common variation, though sometimes flat or gloss are chosen. I've seen a number of original finish machines, all of them Post War models, and they seem to have a variation in shine, likely due to oxidization. Somewhere, I have an old 1940's photo of a Wurlitzer 750 being dolly'd through a doorway. In the photo the finish appears to be glossy.
