It needs a mate ! Mate is called "20 wt. ND Oil" -- see the FAQ's stickies--- Also-- have you changed that needle lately ? Is it a "GunUwhine" Shure ?-- Aftermarket ones are not much good-- Ron Rich

thanks for that. I have used clock oil which is quite thin, I dont know if that is the problem.
As for the cartridge I replaced it but no difference, the needle seems to swing quite some way laterally. Did you mean genuine shure?

I have no idea what "clock oil" is ? Will it "combine" with graphite grease ? Yes--of course, genuine Shure, of the correct number---- if it's a Shure cartridge---Ron Rich

Yes, it is-- available as 20 wt. Non detergent oil (for use in hydrolic applications ?-I think)-- Or, also available, as shown, in our FAQ's, on "eBay"-.
