I have a Wurlitzer 1800 that I checked the turntable speed with a digital speed tach. I'm reading about 42 RPM's. Does anyone know if the speed can be adjusted or if this close enough? Some of my records the sound seems to be draging. I have cleaned and oiled the motor and all gears and parts that I could find. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Bob

Hi Bob, How is the drive belt, is it a bit loose and maybe in need of replacement? Does the drive pulley on the motor have two sizes, could the belt be in the wrong one (although I doubt that would gain the lost 3rpm!)? If you take the belt off the turntable, does it spin freely or is it sluggish? I am unable to determine your location and whether you are on an original 60Hz pulley or on 50Hz replacement? I would certainly not be happy with 42rpm!
Norman.

Hi Norman; I replaced the drive belt that I bought online from Needles4Juboxes. As far as I can tell there is a one size pulley. Everything seems to be free. I'm located in the USA so it should be 60Hz. In the manual that I have I can't find anything about any adjustements. Thanks Bob

Hi Bob, There are no adjustments. My only reason for querying whether you might be on 50Hz was that maybe the incorrect pulley may have been used! I don't have an 1800 manual but if you have serviced all the parts, the only thing I can think of is that something may have been replaced at some time. Does your manual have a parts list (pulley, motor particularly) that you can check against?
Norman.

Hi Bob, Please fill out your profile as requested in the User Introduction section-- Are the motor supports good, or are they sagging ? What did you "oil" the motor with ? Sid you oil the turntable --with what ? Ron Rich

Ron; Everything looks in pretty good shape as far as I can tell. I used 3 in 1 Motor Oil for everthing that I lubricated. As for the turntable I lubed all the moving parts that I could see. I don't know if there is something else that you mean for the turntable. Thanks for all the help Bob

Bob, Look at the motor -- does it align with the motor mounts, or is it "pulling down" on them-- if pulling down, that's your problem-- they need to be changed ! Ron Rich
