Okay well i had a 6-07438-04 Amp that slowly gave up the ghost, so anyhow i unplugged it and sent it to guy what i bought the juke from.
I thought i would get another one so as a spare or fill in till my old one came back so i got a 607438-06
when i went to plug it in i noticed that the volume control had 5 pins, the connector i have is a 3 pin connector plug, seeing my other Amp and this one are exactly the same they both have 5 pins for the volume control, and before my other Amp gave up it was connected to the volume control by 3 pins only. so right now i am stuck as to where exactly to connect that 3 pin plug on the volume control pins, and it was working before with that 3 pin plug so i am a bit stuck
thanks in advance

Hi John, Page 69 of the R86 manual (6-07438-04) shows a 5 pin connector for volume control and reject although only 3 are used. The R87 manual (6-07438-06) shows the same 5 pin connector. Might a modification have been done?
Norman.

Hi norman yes i think you are right in terms of a mod my problem being now is that there are 5 pins and i have a 3 pin connector so because i didnt take any notice of where those 3 pins were connected when i took out the other amp i am unsure of where i am supposed to plug that 3 pin connector into, like 1st pin, second pin, ect i just dont know, hope you know what i am on about, lol

John, Did you remove the pins themselves from the white plastic A-MP header ? Ron Rich

Hi Ron no i didnt remove anything, there were 5 pins coming out of the amplifier volume control on the amp, the cable that i had which went into the other amp only has enough room for 3 pins there are no blanks on that connector, i could take pics but no sure if i could upload them here

John, Both amps have a "hole" in the metal frame marked "Volume Control". There should be only three "pins--sticking up" from there-- You should have an A-MP, white nylon plug, with three wires going to it-- that "plug" goes into the above "hole"-- in either direction. READ our FAQ's on how to post photo's ! Ron Rich

Hi John, That link doesn't open. I don't work on these jukeboxes so can't offer any practical assistance, I can only refer to the manual. Norman.

I made a little video and uploaded it to you tube so this should work. www.youtube.com/watch?v=7MGveA5En_0The only thing that i can think of is that my previous amp (the one i probably wont see for 2 months) must have been adapted to 3 pins although i am not sure as i dont have any pics of the old one i never noticed the discrepancy with the pins on the other one let us know if you can see this, and any ideas would be very welcome

Hi John, I can see you have a 3 pin plug, but what I can no tell is where are you attempting to plug it into-- The twq amps should have been identical in this respect ! Some how my MEMORY says that should be a 5 position plug-- but I don't know why-- do you have a service manual for your phono ? If so it should show the schematic or at least the plugs in that manual ? Ron Rich

Yeh that plug is meant to plug into where those 5 pins sticking out in the video , and thats where the problem lies i have a 3 pin connector plug but 5 pins. the only thing that i can think of is that the old amp was altered from 5 to 3 pins, or that 3 pin plug connects to 3 of the 5 pins like the middle 3, the 3 top pins or the 3 bottom pins. i looked at the manual it shows the five pins coming out the amplifier and the connector being a five pin connector with 2 blanks which matches with others that i have seen looking on the web
so how it was working before with that 3 pin plug i have 0 idea and way beyond me to change the plug, i might just have to wait till the old amp comes back from repair, very confusing business

yep i found A photo of the AMP thats getting repaired, for whatever reason 2 of the 5 pins had been removed i think the outer pins hence the 3 pin connector i am not sure why anyone would do that, so i will have to wait it seems till that one comes back from repair
