Hi I just got a Rockola 445 jukebox and have managed to fix some small mechanical issues. When I select an odd number eg A1 the input arm spins, selects the record and plays and returns it upon completion. However when I select an even number eg A2 or G4 the input arm/mechanism just spins and spins. Does anybody know why this is or how to fix it. Any help would be greatly appreciated, or if you need me to explain in anymore detail let me know. Thanks in advance, Matthew.

Have you cleaned the printed circuit contact disc and contacts that carry the write-in circuits - see pages 16 and 17 of the service manual?
Norman.

Have you cleaned the printed circuit contact disc and contacts that carry the write-in circuits - see pages 16 and 17 of the service manual? Norman. Yes I've cleaned it the circuit contact discs as best as I can. Still having the same problem. I have seen on page 54 of the manual a circuit diagram, on the bottom right of the page there is a series of numbers labelled "Bottom level" . This looks like there is a green-white wire for odd numbers and a green wire for even numbers... however I cannot find these wires in real life. Any advice?

Hi Matthew, These wires you cannot find will be within the button bank switch assy - running from the numbers section back to the letters section.

Just saw your post. I'm new here also and recently acquired a Rock Ola 440. There is an excellent repair video on U Tube that covers this type of problem. I'll try to explain it. On the lower front of of your machine see if there is a micro switch that is activated by a lever should move upward and downward. This lever is on the end of an arm that extends rearward. On the end of this arm is a small piece that is football shaped.( believe it's called a dog) This piece rides in one of the two channels in a geared wheel. As the wheel goes around, the small piece alternates from the outer channel to the inner channel of the wheel, rotating from the A side to the B side of the record. The lever moves upward or downward when the "dog" changes channels. I would guess that the "Dog" is gunked up, and stuck in one channel.

Hi Rich, Please use the terms as found in the service manuals-- that switch is not a Micro Switch ™! As for U-tube's-- read the off topic scams post here. Also, I have seen several of the cam followers that have gotten "stuck", but never have I seen one get "stuck" on one side-- they usually jamb, due to lack of proper lubrication---Ron Rich

I had this very same issue. Each time I tried A sides (which was all I was testing in the beginning), the read out would spin continuously. After some research into the schematics I found the issue was with the 'alternating dog.' After removing the 'gripper reversal bracket' and cleaning the 'dog' which would not rotate, both sides worked. I also cleaned the grooves really well that the dog rides in to ensure it would not get gummed up again.

Hi All, I have found that if "someone" has NOT added a grease, that has turned into cement--adding a few drops of 20 wt. oil will soften the original factory graphite grease enough, to work well. If someone has added something else-yep-you're gonna-hafta clean it, and I suggest using a graphite based grease -- Ron Rich
