I will look and see if i have the schematics for the gripper motor in my service manual, unfortunately it seems a copy of the original schematics showing the entire system is not available from music box and i can only find copy's of what i already have. I do agree i need to move cautiously but i was not touching any circuits just checking all connections.

Pete, the gripper motor slowing resistors are covered in sequence 15, controlled by cam switch 2 & 2A. You should have that in your manual?
Norman.

I found the issue with gripper motor and am back where i started from, i have a question that maybe you could answer , before i start following the sequences using manual, tester and schematics. In the manual it has various tests to to confirm if parts are working correctly. To test logic board it states if unit is not on free play (i placed mine off of free play)turn power switch off and on, at that moment carriage should spin, if not use scan switch, if carriage spins it lists the only issue is the logic board. Do you guys agree or is this just general. All connections seem fine and the unit does operate on scan, then switched to play it does stop and select a record and plays, if i eject it returns record and gripper and magazine back to idle position but then shows a record playing in the play window. Just before going further im just wondering does the computer chips control this. pete

I'm not home right now so don't have access to documents. I think what you have said is correct. Did you resolve the issue of the led on the opto board not flashing?
Norman.

Yes Norman the opto board not flashing just took me touching and wiggling the connections, now it operates (flashes )as it should when magazine spins. Hi Ron after checking all connections the gripper would place record on plater and stay in the dropping position, I found the slo blo fuse was burned or defective, now it runs like normal, i dont think it is a problem i think it was from me pulling out all connectors and boards including fuses to make sure i had good contacts, i may have damaged the fuse or it was fragile.

Pete, You have a "connector problem" if "wiggling it" changes anything ! See the Rowe sticky on "common problems". BTW-- One should not "wiggle-plug/un-plug anything, ever, with the power on ! Ron Rich

Yes i did have a connector problem at the opto board but it was the LED that was not getting a good connection, it is repaired now but this issue has nothing to do with the rest, as far as Rowe sticky i read it and i am not taking connectors off with the power on but i removed and replaced the opto board after cleaning and checking contacts, then found the light was not coming on when the carriage spun, i touched the bulb and the light started working.

When you say popularity meter, do you mean hit tracker? Yes, I think that should be ok!

Ron, Hey now, wasn't the earlier mechanical wheel on RockOlas called a "Pop Counter"?
I did a video on it when I finally figured out what the thing is supposed to do and got it working. If it's not a Pop Counter then I sure called it the wrong thing.

Pop counter-- never heard that term --possible-- made a error above-- the "announciator" was not the pop meter-- it was the selection now playing display in a Rowe/AMi. I think it may have been called the "play meter" ?? Ron Rich
