Hello, I have this idea of connecting a bluetooth module to the amplifier of my 1434. Has anyone ever tried that? I have to find a way to switch on the ampli when the bluetooth is activated. Any thoughts?
Cheers Fabrice

When I added bluetooth to my Rock-Ola 464 I used a module that allowed a line level input to be switched off when the bluetooth was activated and I simply disabled the Mute relay. I sent the juke line level before the volume pot to the bluetooth module and the output of the module back to the volume pot. That makes the amp on all the time but that didn't bother me enough to work out a different solution. My current Wurlitzer Fuego I set up differently and I have the mute enabled when not playing the auxiliary input, in this case chromecast instead of bluetooth. see here: jukeboxaddicts.proboards.com/thread/2853/fitting-bluetooth-receiver-jukebox

Dear Whammoed, thanks for replying. I am a bit lost so I will try to summarize all what needs to be done on my Juke.
- find a way to switch on the ampli (with the bluetooth) - find a way to switch off the motor of the turntable (with the bluetooth) - find a way to switch off the line coming from the pickups (using a line level auto switch) - find a way to switch on the bluetooth receiver (done using my phone) - need to connect the output of the bluetooth to the intput of the pickups (using a line level auto switch)
Why disabling the mute relay? What is it supposed to mute by the way?
If you know the diagram of the ampli of the 1434, it would be very nice to have some guidance in doing the connections. To start, I don't know how to make the ampli be always on as it's only on when a selection is made.

The amplifier is "on" when the jukebox is on. The mute circuit/relay is on when a record is not playing keeping the amps output nice and quiet. The device I used in the thread I linked has relay contacts that switch back and forth based on what source is enabled and you can use that to do whatever you feel necessary. Tapping in before the volume control is how I used bluetooth on my Rock-ola.

When my jukebox is on and not playing a record, the amplifier is off.

Darren, What model RockOla did you add it to ?
Fab, The mute relay keeps all of the "pops" & "crackles" of the old style mechanical switches in-audible, when it is muted. Service Manuals which should contain the schematic for the amp are available -see our FAQ's section sticky. Ron Rich

Ron,
It was a 464.

Darren, Ain't that a solid state amplifier ?-- Different an-nee-mule ! Ron Rich

Thanks Ron. So I am still trying to understand which microswitch turns on and off the amplifier on the 1434. On the diagram, how this switch should be called? Cheers. Fab

Hi Fab, I doubt it's called anything other then a number-- follow the wires back from the amp-- Ron Rich

Ron,
Yes the 464 is solid state but I really didn't do anything with the amplifier itself just tapped in before the volume pot. Are you saying the the volume pot on the 1434 is not attenuating a line level audio signal? If that is the case then you would need to find a different place to feed in the bluetooth module output.

Hi Ron, I am in front of the diagram of the Juke and looking at the description of amplifier components. There is a Tube heater relay (13028) inside the amplifier. Could it be this relay that turns on the whole amplifier? Also when I read the introduction of the manual, it says "The selector starting gate closes the coil bank micro switch, which starts the power motor, turntable motor, and turns on the amplifier". So it seems to be this coil bank micro switch (15165) that powers up the amplifier as well as the 2 motors. Seems that I can cut off the mechanism motors with the "mechanism toggle switch 13362).

Hi Darren, I am saying the amps are different-- a tube type amp is usually not "on, all the time" ! As for the VC-- I dono, because I don't have schematics for them in front of me to make a judgement with-- Ron Rich
