Thanks guys. The bending went well and the arms now easily clear the carousel. I think I need to lessen the arm adjustment a bit because every so often the main gears are slipping when in the reverse/retract mode (only on one side).

Hi Brad, What does "slipping" mean here-- are gears actually "jumping" ? If so, stop-- do not run that unit till you c]an adjust them so the don't do that ! Ron Rich

Yes, the gears are slipping and clicking at a rate of approximately two clicks per second. It only happened on one side and only after several successful loading/unloading cycles of both arms. I’ve shut it down and have not made any further adjustments yet.

Sounds like it's binding. Obviously the first thing to check is that the arm adjustment isn't too tight.

Yes, it seems I overtightened the on arm. Made the adjustment so both arms just touch their stops. Works well now. And it does need further cleaning and lubrication. I'm guessing it has been a while since this machine was running.
Now on to cleaning and lube, and tackling the amp. I'll test the components and recap it. Thanks again for your help on this one.
