I think the priority is to determine why the selection motor isn't running and that's a case of getting out the schematic and tracing the circuit. It could be as simple as a broken wire or dirty contact though. I suspect that the number solenoid issue could be a bit of a red herring so best to park that for now while you concentrate on the motor.

Excuse me and my old fingers what I was going to say/ask is: I have the same problem. I can't find an answer in the service manual. The machine is new to me. When first tried it it was stuck. After fussing with this and that it got it unstuck. Now bit goes to the selected pin sticks and I must turn off the machine and manually back off the rotating plate to release the pin. The rotating plate seems hard or stiff to release backward. I feeling maybe it's gummed up or? Any thoughts before I try to take the thing apart to try and clean up the underside of the rotating plate. I've considered spraying it down with carburetor cleaner or wd40 (power off of course) flowed by a good dry silicone lube such as Mac's. And advice or direction greatly appreciated. Thanks, Bob

Hi Bob, Is your machine also a Wurlitzer 2600? On thing I'm confused about... why do you need to turn the power off to back off the rotating plate? Is something staying energized preventing the plate from being moved?
And welcome to the forum!

No it's a 2800 but the mechanics appear to be the same or very similar. Yes it feel like something is still energized when it locks up. I have a the "service manual" that I download somewhere. But it doesn't address seem to address the issue. Any ideas which solenoid may be the culprit? And thanks foyr

...sorry about that. My 74 year old fingers have a hard time with the small keyboard on these phone devices. Anyway, thanks for the reply and the warm welcome. I have to take my wife into town for a medical appointment soon. So a brief history: I got the machine jammed. When I unjamed it and tried again it went nuts throwing records up into the turntable until I coul unplug it... More later got to head out now. Thanks, Bob ...

No such luck. It still locks and does not reverse when it hits a pin. I guess I need to explore the reversing switch. Sure wish I found this site and had read Ron Rich's cautions about not pluging it in before finding the issue. I think maybe it was the guy before me that screwed it up. But still I wonder how one is supposed to locate the issue without plugging it in and trying it? I thinking this machine might be offered for parts. The Amp works well and the speakers sound great (I did get it to play a record once. But then on the next selection it started throwing records up into the turn table and jammed the loading arms and records up in there. I might try making a crib for the main mechanical unit and working on it out of the box. Can anyone point me to information on the best method to remove the unit from its case or box? Can one person do it with a shop crane? I'm in Florissant Colorado if anyone has serious interest in this thing before I get deeper into it let me know. It comes with a pile of 50s and early 60s records. The records are not in great shape but seem playable with this things 5 gram tracking weight.
