I recently got ahold of a Rockola 451 that is in pretty rough shape cabinet wise. The two side panels of MDF that provide the main support for the entire mechanism are severely water damaged at the bottom to the point they are literally falling to pieces. The bottom panel that the casters are attached to was also water damaged on one side and one caster fell off. To move the jukebox around, the previous owner had put one of those square furniture dollies underneath it, which has made the already weakened bottom MDF panel start to bow and crack as well. My plan so far is replace the affected parts with some plywood using the damaged panels as a pattern. I was wondering if anyone had any previous experience with anything like this?
The mechanism itself in the jukebox is in good condition and complete, as well as everything else. I'm not too concerned with the jukebox being a bit of a junker, I wanted to get ahold of one to learn about how to work on it and tinker, and this is a good candidate.

First you would have to remove all the working parts. Ideally you would want to replace both side panels and the base. But you might get away with replacing only the base and repairing the side panels - it would depend on how bad they actually are. You can get some quite good liquid products (eg wood hardener) that could be used to stabilise the damage. The parts catalogue would give you an idea of how the cabinet was constructed but you could probably tell that anyway just from having a good look.
