Seeburg C Will Not Scan

Hi,

My Seeburg C has been working fine.

Yesterday I tried to play a record, it returned the record on the turntable to the rack, and then did not move.

The motor is turning, but it does not scan.

Any idea what I should be looking for?

Hi Gordon,

I've only got a moment to respond....

Seems like the safety plunger might be engaged. Try manually tripping the mechanism utilizing the trip 'release lever'.

The safety plunger will need probably need lubrication.

Hi Marty,

I manually tripped the 'release lever' and it started moving.

I added lubrication to all the moving parts I could reach, and it appears to be working well again.

Great news!

Keep in mind that unless the safety plunger is CLEAN and oiled, it may get stuck again...

But at least you know how to recover!
