AY160 only plays one selection after battery test

My AY160 will only play the first selection after power up or one record after the classic battery test.  I've scoured this forum and I did check the keys are releasing properly after I read of a similar problem on a 222, but I didn't find anything else related to this problem.  I've tried replacing the OA2s, pulse amp valve and so on but it has made no difference so far.  Does anyone have an idea where I should look next?

When you do the battery test, after it's played the first selection - if you stop it mid scan for a ferw seconds using the scan switch (don't power off), will it pick up a selection when you put it back to play?
