So the only thing I did that might have caused this problem is clean and adjust the play control relay contacts.
Now if I make a selection manually,it's go to that selection in read out,and the carraige stops. The record basket is off 3 selections.
The home position alway goes past it at 3 selections
I did take the read out armature off and clean the contacts on it as well, but I'm thinking it only goes back one way.
While I'm here,I have a write in problem as well. Some numbers and letters do,some don't. I haven't taken the time to write down the sequences. But I did have to change a busted carraige housing (assembly). It was like that when I got it.Guy said it used to work, but there was no way with the coil being busted off.(how does stuff like that happen?)
So,I never paid alot of attention when I replaced it,which no doubt I should have taken pictures, but does it matter if I got the wire in the wrong position? I'm thinking yes,but again,I don't know the exacts on the current and operation of the coils. I should have taken the whole arm off and replaced with a differant one,but I just ended up changing coil.

I suspect that the read-out arm is not quite correctly positioned, especially since you've had it removed. There is a previous thread covering this, might be worth looking back at it.
Write-in problems - dirty selector switches, dirty printed circuit contact plate or contacts probably favourite here!

I triple checked the read out arm.Actually put the original back on,no change. I see a small adjustment on the arm itself, but that's not going to change the location of the arm.Just the switches. I see it going on there one way with no room for adjustment I did learn however how the arm reads the plate for homing. I'm still 3 selections off. Not sure what happened, but it seems the carraige must have got turned somehow. Not sure how that would have happened since it's on there good.

Confirmed. I was a little impatient,so I apparently got the wrong mounting holes. Got the homing and selection issue fixed. Now on to the write in issue

OK I understand now, I had thought you had removed the complete read out arm!
