Working on a SHP1 amp was reminded of a question I wanted to ask on the last one I did. On the preamp board there is a choke that I think Ron Rich once called a "monoralizer" in a post I stumbled across. It seems to bridge the left and right channels and wondered if anyone ever experimented with running without it and if it gives greater stereo separation or was negligible. Thanks!

The main reason for the choke is for base response. The low frequencies of both channels get tied together and are played out of both 12" speakers, effectively boosting the bass output. This might also be done in the crossover, making one of the inductors redundant.
I don't believe it would make an audible difference in channel separation besides the lower frequencies, but if you try it I'd be interested to know your results!

I left it out. Combining the bass helps a bit with bass response at the cost of separation. the drums are often in the middle any way.
