I went with 5w.
I think the rectifier is also dead. Need to pull it to test it.
Plan to replace with 1N4007 (1000v 1A)
Is that an acceptable replacement?

For the bridge rectifier 1000V is definitely OTT, 200 or 300V would be fine - although there's no actual reason not to use 1000V! If you look at the diagram, you will see a 1A and a 1.6A fuse on the DC supply side so you should therefore use 3A diodes. You could also think about a composite bridge rectifier, easier to deal with mounting and wiring wise rather than using individual diodes - although again there is no reason not to use individual diodes.
