Well this is my 1st post here, hope someone can answer this question. I have an SPS 160 Olympian that I picked up without the amp. I have gotten the mechanism working manually, but would like to test it with the selectors and electronics. The mechanism gets it's power from the amp. I believe the amp it should have is the SHP 3. I have another juke that works similarly to this one but the amp is a TSA8. Can I use the TSA8 in this juke to test? This will determine if I fix it or just part it out, as there are other parts missing.

The amplifier does not power the mechanism, however the mute/trip relay is contained within the amp... so if the amp is not hooked up the mechanism will never reject the record playing (you can always trip it manually). Everything else including the selection process will work without the amp.

...and yes the TSA8 amp will work for testing.
