That's a little vague, not much to go on.
What do you mean the selection keys are not working?
When you try one of these selections does the write-in motor start to run? If the motor does run does it run continuously?
Do you have a service manual? If not obtaining one would be a good starting point.

Thanks Marty. I have a service manual but the trouble shooting section is vague. A5-A8, C5-C8, E5-E8, H5-H8 etc. Starts to work but then the carousel returns to home position. Will compressed air work on the keys? Thanks

I am not an advocate of using compressed air. You never know where the dirt and grime will wind up. So when you try to make one of these selections the appropriate selector lever is not actuated?
SEQUENCE: Once you program a keyboard selection, the write-in carriage arm starts to rotate. The arm stops when it reaches the correct selection lever. The solenoid (hammer coil) then fires to set the the proper selection lever. When the selection lever is set, it trips the 'wobble plate switch' which (through the play control relay) starts the main magazine motor.
Where in the sequence is the process failing?
Maybe the contacts on the write-in carriage arm need cleaning?

Hey Marty, thanks for the advice. I cleaned the contacts and it works now. Can you tell me what proper ohm 5x7 upper speakers to use as replacements? A mouse got up in there and ate half the paper element on one of them, would like to up-grade. Ohm's confuse me

The schematic for the amplifier shows that the amp is designed to be used with 16 ohm speakers. You can always take an ohms measurement across your existing speakers (once you disconnect the wires), to confirm this. A 16 ohm speaker will usually have a resistance value between 11 to 13 ohms.

OK thats fixed. Now I am in need of repair or replace part #34536-3 Dual input cable. 3 Very thin wires with female pins on each end. Do you know of anywhere to get a replacement?

I am not aware of anyone who is making a direct replacement input cable.

Surely you should be able to repair that cable one way or another, what exactly is the problem?
Norman.

Ok Marty here's the next question... I have everything working as it should. I replaced the upper speakers with 2 new 16 ohm units, sounds better. The sound is still not as clear as I would like, even with new records. Can I upgrade the needle and stylus/cartridge with something more modern? the needle is new but still it has an inferior scratchy cheap sound. Thanks.
