Hi Marty, i have finally made progress on the amp, I should have spent more time on the 7199 tube area but thought it could not be in that area due to both sides dyeing at once. I found that R18 and R151 had been replaced in the past using two resisters in each location to get the value they wanted. On each resistor half of the resistor was open, I checked value and the combined resistor was 640000 ohm but the spec shows 840000 ohm, i replaced both as per spec and now get 50% volume very clear. My question is knowing both R18 and R151 were open, what else could that damage. Also i notice when the mech scans i hear a scratchy noise intermittently. I get the same volume on left or right channel, but when testing volume pot i got up to .677 m on one side but only up to 413K on the other, can this be the volume issue. pete

My only advise is if you find a component that is out of tolerance, it's a good practice to replace it. Whether or not this will fix your amplifier is unknown.
