Hello... I am working on a 1448 Rockola and have the machine cleaned up and working. However, the program change wheel will not rotate when the button is pushed. I can initiate the wheel to turn by hand and it will move to the next of the three record selections, but the button will not work to make the rotation when pushed. The program light illuminates when a credit is established. The correct record will play, as per the record list which is displayed on the program changer, when the record is selected. Everything else works and sounds as expected but the program wheel does not rotate and only the records displayed on the program can be selected. I am sure a 'Jukebox Addict' member, familiar with these types of Rockolas, knows what the solution is and I would greatly appreciate some direction in this regard! Thanks!

I would start by checking to make sure the 'program change switch' is properly connected; there are quick disconnects that remove this switch from the circuit. The switch could also be faulty.
You can also check the 'program relay' contacts.

Marty...Thanks for the reply. I'll see what I can discover and check. The box sat unused for many years and I am having multiple small issues with it. The good news is that after a thorough cleaning, new tubes, cartridge and needle, and some rewiring of old cords, it is playing records and sounding very nicely. The problems now are in the selection, finding and playing sequences. I very much appreciate your assistance! Marty

Marty....the magazine motor has a screw 'cap- on the side. From my experience with motors for hydraulic systems, this 'cap' is for adding fluid to the motor. In hydraulic motors, you are to fill the engine with hydraulic fluid up to the bottom edge of the hole when the cap is removed. Is this the same for this motor? If so, what fluid or oil is to be added to this engine and when? If not, what is the purpose of this screw cap in the side of the engine?

No, this motor should not be filled. If lubricating use "Zoom-Spout" oil, "3-In-One Motor Oil" (Blue Can), or 20 weight non-detergent oil.
