I have posted questions regarding my repair and restoration of a Rockola 1448, and have received very helpful responses. This problem is just now occurring, and I am hoping the Rockola experts of this group can assist me again.
When I make a selection the record magazine begins searching immediately for the appropriate record. Most of the time this is done quickly and without incident. However, occasionally the magazine speed will slow and may even stop entirely. It may start again until it finds the desired record or it may just stop again and eventually not move at all. By making another selection, the magazine will immediately restart on its circular path. In nearly all cases. the magazine will find the first of the two selections in its travel, play that record and then search, find, and play the second selection as well. This interrupted search generally occurs during longer and often reversed magazine searches, but not always. This machine was covered with 40 years of dust, dirt, and grime when found and its return to being functionality again. This action is quite puzzling. Any assistance in locating and addressing this 'gremlin', would be greatly appreciated. Marty in Mountain Maryland.

If the jukebox did not get any or only little maintenance for 40 years now, maybe the magazin motor needs a good cleaning from the inside. The motor brushes could be worn too within the years. I am not sure if this type of motor has sinter plain bearing and holes for some oil. If so it might be dry inside and miss some oil. Maybe removing the motor and testing it on a workbench could be helpful too - to see how much current it needs without load.
