Hello. I own a 1965 Seeburg Discotheque PFEAIU. It has worked fine for many years, and still does usually, but it recently has started playing slowly. It goes from playing 2-5 songs at normal speed to it gradually getting slower and slower until the mechanism completely stops turning. Is the motor going out?

The most likely cause for this issue is the large 4.0 mf capacitor in Auto Speed unit.

+1 that cap is part of the ferro-resonant [regulated] power input section. old caps open up as things get warm. oscillator input power goes down and so does the frequency.
later units [native 45 rpm] used a multi vibrator type osl circuit where R-C values determined the Hz rather than the native 33.3 rpm where regulated input power and a constant load provided stability.
