Hello Jukebox Addicts.
New here. I mostly work on pinball, but finally got around to repairing my old Seeburg.
Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I have the same issue on power up on my S220: it scans immediately and without stopping until you make a selection. It does select and play a record and now that I remade the pickup lead wires (yay!). Another issue I have is the last part of a record is static-y, and I think there is not enough tension on the tone arm springs, so I ordered 2 new ones.
Back to the issue at hand. I couldn't see the pictures in this thread. Does anyone know where to start? I got to the Tormat unit and the rivets and pins looked good and no broken wires. I pulled the TMU off the clean it a bit, but couldn't figure out how to open it after removing the 4 cover screws.
Thanks for any assistance.
Chris

Hi Chris,
I moved this thread because the old one from 2017 had a lot of outdated info. Not to mention some of the info doesn't seem pertinent.
The most likely cause for continuous scanning is the scan control assembly, or the contact that actuates the subtract solenoid.
Do you have a manual? If you do familiarize yourself with the 'scan control' (referred to as play control in the Seeburg manual).
If you don't have a manual you should get one!
Welcome to Jukebox Addicts!

Thanks Marty. I do have a manual, but didn't find anything yet. I'll target scan control.

I re-read my Seeburg Service Manual Select-O-Matic, and for the life of me I can't find anything on scan control.

Sorry, the scan control components are actually referred to as 'play control' in the Seeburg manual.
It is comprised of an 'add' solenoid, a 'subtract' solenoid, and the play control switch. These are located within the 'Tormat selector unit' (TSU).
When the 'add solenoid' is actuated it closes the 'play control switch' which initiates the mechanism motor causing mechanism to scan.
Likewise, the 'subtract solenoid' resets the 'play control switch' (once the mechanism scans twice).
In your case, you may have a sticky (or continuously energized) solenoid in the 'play control', or the 'play contract SUBTRACT switch' (located on the rear of the mechanism base) is not closing to energize the 'subtract solenoid'.
Hope this is more helpful!

Definitely, thanks for the follow up. I suspected it was in the Tormat. I had it out and removed the 4 screws holding the bronze colored cover, but couldn't figure out how to get it off. I'll try again this weekend.

The subtract switch is not part of the Tormat. It is located UNDER the Tormat, mounted to the contact block.
