I have a friend who has a Seeburg Q160 Select-o-matic jukebox, they were playing the jukebox, it stopped playing, then there was burnt electrical smell. There is nobody close that works on jukeboxes, I am reaching out on this forum to see if anyone can give me some advice moving forward on troubleshooting or a resource I can contact to see if there may be a possibility getting the jukebox to work again. any help would be appreciated thank you

There are quite a few prerequisites before attempting self repair...
Do you have a service manual?
Can you read a schematic?
Do you have any technical knowledge in electronics? Especially in vacuum tube technology?
Do you know the sequence of operation of the machine you are attempting to repair?
Do you own the proper test equipment? Especially a volt ohm meter? DO you know how to use it?
Can you identify the basic components of your jukebox? Can you locate them?
Having said all that...
What burned up? Can you give us some sort of starting point? Did the whole machine die? Was the record still turning?
You can use your eyes and nose to try to find the source of the burning.
DO NOT power up that machine again until the source of the burning is located!

I have no manuals or schematics, I have no knowledge of how juke boxes work and no knowledge in vacuum tube technology. I am familiar with volt ohm meters and how to use them, I have basic schematic reading background. With that being said after the incident when the jukebox went dead and emitted the burnt smell, the jukebox will not power up at all, I was hoping it would just be a power supply issue, with a best case scenario of just replacing the power supply. I have no intentions of trying to full blown troubleshoot the tubes, sequencing etc., that is over my technical abilities. Here is a little more background information, it is my neighbors mother in law, and she lives 100 miles from me so I don't have readily available access to answer some of the questions you ask, I havent' event seen the inside of the jukebox. I do know that they were using the jukebox and it just quit and went black and of course emitted the burnt electrical smell. I am reaching out to find out what I would need to look for when I do go to check it out. Sometimes it's just something simple and other times it gets way technical, I understand that, I am just trying to help out a friend. FYI they have had the jukebox for over 30 years so it holds some sentimental value. Thank you for your response, very much appreciated.

Great! It sounds like you can get a handle on this.
It would be best if you get a manual and familiarize yourself with the workings of the machine. If nothing else it would give everyone a common frame of reference when trying to describe things.
It's not the easiest prospect to replace the power supply, the power supply circuits are integral to the 'selection receiver'. The amplifier has it's own built in power supply. Buying a used selection receiver (or amplifier) that is generally available will likely yield a unit that also requires considerable work.
Repairing the selection receiver (and it's power supply) will require component level testing and replacement.
Hopefully the burning smell was not the one of the transformers!

If the machine is totally dead, it will no doubt mean that the main fuse has blown. In that case, probably the best outcome for you would be that one of the fluorescent ballasts has self destructed - so check the lighting first! If it's not the lighting, it's difficult to envisage a scenario involving burnt electrical smell and blown main fuse that doesn't mean seriously bad news! You really should arm yourself with some documentation; that will definitely help you. You can get a download of the Y/AY manual (following year) here which will be good enough for what you require, at least initially www.carlhaines.com/jukebox/manuals/seeburg/SeeburgY_AY_ServiceManual.pdfFingers crossed for the lighting! Norman.
