Hello, I have an smc2. I had Ron Rich rebuild the amplifier, go through the pcc and I purchased the new gen2 mpu. It worked great for the last years with only occasional use. I went to turn it on and the mech just went left until it crashed. I immediately turned it off, wheel the motor back by hand 1/2 way to the right and tried it again. It did the same thing. I did see little sparks when the top leaf switch that hits the left stop hit the stop, but it goes right past it. I tried the same thing again in service mode and the mech did not move until I hit scan. I put it back into normal and it just goes left.
Now for some reason I get no red light in service mode anymore.
The mpu will say ser in service mode put in play mode I just get dashes.
Where do I start? Please help!
Thanks Steve

Hi Steve,
Your symptoms are usually the PCC having a part/chip go bad... As for the red light, no idea... There is a chance the ramp switch is not making good contact when it gets to the left, so the mech doesn't know to stop, so I would make sure those contacts are clean, and making good contact. pa. Where are you located?.. I'm near Cleveland, Ohio, and a have a LOT of SMC machines, and am just finishing up a restoration on an SMC-2.
