Newbie here! I have a Seeburg STD2 that I've owned for around 20 years. Unfortunately, it pooped out about 10 years ago and has been inactive ever since. That's until just about a couple of weeks ago. A local Seeburg enthusiast kindly agreed to come over and take a look at it in hopes of getting it back to it's glory days. Turns out the major problem was that the lubricant dried out, the mechanism ultimately froze, and then quit operating. A complete cleaning and re-lube has it running again as before except for one issue. There is some record slippage on the clamp arm side. Some 45's work just fine but most do not. Pushing in slightly on the top of the clamp arm improves things dramatically! It was thought that the problem might be with the clamp arm spring but that's not the issue. It's not overstretched and has the same tension as a known good spring. I researched this forum looking for people with the same issue but only came up with one thread relating to this problem. Aside from the spring, I have 2 more items to check thanks to that thread. One is the "end play setting of the turntable shaft" and the other would be to check for smooth movement of the clamp arm at the pivot point. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks in advance for any other information that you can provide.

The two items that you have identified would be the first things to look at. The other thing that springs to mind is that turntable assembly has maybe been disassembled and not put back together correctly. I'm not sure that the STD2 manual has the breakdown diagram and set up instructions for the turntable? It's in earlier manuals though.

^^^ Thanks, Norman! This weekend we'll be tackling clamp arm pivot lubrication and will take a close look at the disc for any binding. Then we'll move on from there.
