Hi my Regis 1488 says to set to 25 watts and use 16 ohm speakers for stereo sound.
Would it be ok to use 8 ohm speakers instead or would this cause issues?

Impedance matching speakers to amps is a hot topic on the internet.
Many people suggest that using an 8 ohm speaker on a 16 ohm output would put undo stress on the transformers and output tubes.
Others say that a one 'step' drop in impedance shouldn't hurt.
In practice, I have installed 8 ohm speakers on amplifiers with a 16 ohm output numerous times, without a single issue.
Jukebox amplifiers are pretty tough.
Just make sure you don't go lower than 8 ohms.
