Did you read "Attn Newbies" in our FAQ's section ? If not, please, do so. Do you have the Service Manual ? If so see the trouble shooting guide within-- If you are familiar with the phono, look at the bottom of the motor coupling--is it turning ? Is the play control relay energized ? With the power -OFF-, can you turn the motor coupler, and will that cause the TT to turn ? Did you just acquire this phono--did this problem just arise, have you have you seen/heard it run ? Ron Rich

Not quite sure of you answer here--if turning the coupling turns the TT, does it also start the motor running, or is the TT only spinning a little ? Is the mech in scan, play or transfer mode ? Ron Rich

Ron, the motor will only turn by spinning coupling by hand, appears to be no power to the motor, I can scan the mech by rotation the coupling, I can also rotate the coupling by hand and it will pick up record, and I can flip up the ejection lever to eject the record, but all is done manually by rotating coupling, as stated before don’t seam to be any power to the motor, got me baffled

OK-Now I understand your problem ---gotta good ANALOG meter ? With the power ~OFF~ Check the contacts of the play control relay and the Reversing switch on the mechanism--no pits/burrs, contacts making well -- if OK, turn power on and look for 120 vac at the two center blades (large wires), on the reversing switch. If there you have most likely lost the motor run cap, could also be the motor--but that's VERY rare. If the contacts are bad, and you don't know how to service them, see our FAQ's section. Ron Rich

Ron, Appreciate the help in guiding me in the right direction, for one control relay contacts were burnt, upon closer inspection, about half of Bottom contact was missing, then one of the reversing contacts were barely making, so you were spot on. So its up and running.sounding good. Thx again for the help.

To prevent the play control contacts from burning(in the next 60-70 years !), add a .01/1400 cap across them. Glad you found that ! Ron Rich
