I searched but can't find anything on setting up my seeburg sc1 consolette. I found cdadapter and am waiting on a response to buy their product but id like to talk to someone who's set up a SC1 who can give me some tips and tricks on making this unit work the best. Any info would be appreciated. Rob in Dallas

Rob, The manual is available -- see our FAQ's section for a list of book sellers-- The SC series Consolettes are easy to set up--you can do it with three wires, as you can for all Seeburgs from the 3w-1 on thru the SCH series -- or use 6, or all ten, wires, if you want. See our FAQ's section for the late Tony Millers web site--he detailed Consolettet wiring there. Ron Rich

I found the link to his website but I can't find anything in there about wiring it up. I bought a printed manual, I show where the black and white from the power supply hook up, bought an old power supply meant for the SC1, and hooked it up. I get absolutely nothing. Do I need to do more to trigger it to do something? With all the extra components it hooked up to back in the day I'm not sure what if anything I need to do other than adding the jumper to the coin mechanism 3 wires as I've read. Will it run with the cover off?

Also the top right corner has a contact bent over. It almost looks like its a contact that grounds maybe when they unit it locked as an arm slides up next to it when its locked. Id add a pic if I could figure out how. Its got a red wire going to it just below the 3rd light on top.

Rob, It's there--"techy stuff--DEC wiring--" "Bent" contact lights program panel lamps. Ron Rich

I might have bigger issues. Found a smoked resistor, replaced it, smoked the new one.

The resistors normally in the SC are only for the lights. They are on the back-plane. The only one that would likely "smoke" is the carbon type which is for the reader lights. If that is the one, answer if it burned up with the cover on or off. This is straight-forward checking for a short to ground from the load side of that resistor to the chassis or the cover.
The "bent over" contact you mention is for the page illumination lights. It presses against a small contact plate on the cover assembly.
The original bulbs are #19 and unlike earlier Seeburg boxes, all lamps here are connected to the low-AC via resistors instead of a transformer.

I didn't notice it smoke til I put the cover on and locked it. The bent pin looks like its supposed to make contact with a plate that slides up when you lock it. The resistor that smoked is above 3 block resistors (I think they're resistors) located just above the center of the box just right of center. R891 I think

Rob, No big deal--like both Rob/NYC, and I said-- that bent contact is supposed to make contact with the power to the program holder #19 lamps. Check that it is correctly "bent" to do so, check the mating contact, to ground to find the short. Check that the lamps, are, in fact # 19's (Yep--they are marked !!), replace the resistor, and it should be working-- are your other illumination lamps OK ?
Rob NYC-- Seeburg never used a "transformer" to power the lamps in a wall box. They used an "Autoformer"--- a sort of choke, that has only two wires--an in and out --

"Rob NYC-- Seeburg never used a "transformer" to power the lamps in a wall box. They used an "Autoformer"--- a sort of choke, that has only two wires--an in and out -- Ron Rich"
Here we have it; a stickler for accuracy vs. someone too lazy to type "auto" in front of transformer.
BTW: hope you are well again. The last thing i want to read is that another old-timer has cashed-in his chips...etc

No lights at all. I bought a box of 19s anticipating getting this running. Do you happen to have a pic of the contact that's bent on mine? Its definitely not doing whatever it was designed to by its position. I replaced the 2 burnt resistors and once I applied power and put the case on, smoke. It didn't seem to smoke til I put the case on it seems unless it took time to heat up. I plug it in, nothing lights, hums or turns so I wasn't sure if I needed to do anything more than the black and white wires from the power supply.

When powered with approx 25 volts AC at terminals black and white, the first light (green line) should be on. The next one goes on with the first credit (a single selection) and the third goes on for an album selection or several singles. These lights work regardless of whether the cover is on.
If you are getting a burned resistor for the page lights when the cover is on, check the position of the spring contact as shown with red line. Also, remove the bulbs in the cover reflector. There should be -NO- continuity between the cover and the plate that touches the spring contact.
Again, at least the first of the three light at top should be lit when powered. If not, check for AC at the bulb socket.
--Only a short on the load side of a given resistor will cause it to burn out. The motor and credit unit are not capable of causing this problem.
