I have a USC-2 that I took apart completely and cleaned and have spent months tinkering and learning on. I hope I state this clear enough to follow.
Today I removed the clutch and cleaned it again. Lubed it, put it back in and then ran through all of the adjustments for the clutch, alignment of rack, tormat, reverse switch, end stops, contacts, etc. Side A trips and plays fine. Any side b selection trips at the correct slot but the arm doesn't lift the record in to place. Instead the motor just sits there spinning.
It won't reject and it won't manually trip out of the mode. I have to stop the mech and turn the motor by hand to get it to move out of play and back to scan. Hit mech start it happily goes on to the next record and if it's a 100 side it works and if it's a 200 side it won't.
This unit never worked and today was the first time I've gotten it to make any selection so I'm excited about that but I'm sure it's one of the adjustments I made. Going through the service manual and Ron's guides I don's see anything specific to this issue. Detent timing seems fine since it is stopping where it should for both 100 and 200 sides and the 100s all play fine and trip off just fine.
Will a clutch adjustment affect one side and not the other? Or is this an electrical issue in the 1m3-6?
Hopefully what I wrote makes sense, a video would be faster and easier but I haven't figured out where to link that to. In the mean time I'll keep digging through the collection of books and guides. Maybe I'll just take the entire thing apart again. I'm getting faster at it each time.
