3100 and/or 3210 Centering Pin Wurlitzer Part No. 69247

I recently acquired both a 3100 and a 3210. Neither had centering pins in the cabinet and according to the service manuals, they use the same centering pin. Wurlitzer Part No. 69247. My assumption is that the centering pins are probably the same for many different models.


Anyway, had a chance to order 2 centering pins, so I did. I got them in the mail today and I have questions. They are not identical, but are the same diameter, probably the same material, and approximately the same length (one 1s about 3/16" longer than the other) and I'm unsure if the differences matter or not. Here is a pic:



Now then, here are the differences. Both have a c-clip channel. One actually has a c-clip installed. Both c-clip channels appear to be identical. The one without a c-clip has a splined end, while the other has a knurled end and a slot (I'd assume for a flat head screwdriver). On the other end of the shafts, one has threads such that a nut could be screwed on (my guess is that they are 8-32 threads, perhaps 10-32, but my guess is 8-32 and I assume Wurlitzer parts are all standard and not metric), while the other has a tapered end.

Are these both going to be okay or do I need to return one of these and if so, which one?

Hi Terry,
You can return them both--all you need to do the job is a # 2 Phillips screwdriver ! The one without the C clip ( AKA "cir clip", and/or "Jesus clip") appears to be an original to me-- Inever saw the 2nd type ( but that's meaningless!)? The C clip only serves to stop you from shoving it too far in. and loosing it inside--- Ron Rich

Gee Ron, wish I'd been here and asked before I even ordered them. Oh well, I'll keep them as it is simpler than returning them. Maybe I can use them somewhere along the way to baffle someone with BS instead dazzling them with my (choke choke) brilliance!
