box has done this since I owned it for the past 8 months. issue is only SOMETIMES; other times it's completely quiet. make a selection and once it accepts selection and ES keys reset and mech starts scanning, it starts buzzing, continues through the record, pickup, song play, and only stops after the machine has completed all it's songs and goes back to the rest position. it's coming from the stepper switch and relay assy on the receiver. I've once pulled the cover off and narrowed it to the play control relay, the one time I pulled the cover off and actually looked. last night I lightly burnished, & cleaned contact C with acid brush and contact cleaner. seems better but this morning it did the buzzing. reset that selection and it went away. made another selection and it's quiet.
is this something failing or going bad, is this normal, am I even looking in the right place? thought about checking/adjusting the gaps in the play control relay but.....it's workin as it should; just talking a bit much.

Kevin, Common "happening" on an old relay--""Pole Piece" is dirty--anti magnetic slug (if used) worn out, or just a build up of "stuff" on the armature-- DO NOT "adjust",-- nothing--! Just clean, and check the brass slug, if used. Ron Rich

Kevin, On that relay, if used, it's a brass rivet, dead center on the armature. I don't think that relay had one, as I recall adding it to several--and I am almost sure, it was added by me, to play control relays- ?? Ron Rich
