I am having a problem with the sledge not returning to the start position after 1- 8 selections. Everything will be working fine then the sledge will return from returning a played cd to a position 4-8 cd,s above the start position. The next selection will then be off by that number. Such as- the sledge returns to the 5th cd position in error. Then if the next selection is cd 20 it will travel up to cd 25. When it finish playing it will try to return it to the true 20th cd position- thus jamming the machine up.
Any help will be appreciated.

Hi Brian I would guess it's an internal player assembly problem-- Which model is the player ? Ron Rich

Hi Brian and Ron, Just for your information: Model Rainbow does not use the "regular" CD player mechanism like OMT models but a "tower mechansim". Wurlitzer called it "CD2 Wurlitzer Tower". Computer inside should be CDM12 and I-84 is the amplifier. www.jukebox-world.de/Forum/Archiv/Dt.%20Wurlitzer/Rainbow.htmI guess it would be helpful to know whether the jukebox played fine before, if it was transported or worked on or anything else done to it - or if you got it with that fault and you do not know when it worked fine last time. Hi Hildegard, Hope you and Oliver had a Merry Christmas--and hope you guys have a great new year !! A "CDM-12" is a "regular player" -- it was the predecessor to the PRO version ? Ron Rich

The prior owner was having the same issue when he sold it to me...not sure what brought it on.

Thank you Ron. Christmas was nice and with some quiet time on first day, and another with my mother (we have 2 holidays in Germany) having coffee and great cake and dinner! How about you?
Yes, you are right, CDM12 is a regular player, the SCC is also called CDM12. And Rainbow uses the CDM12 player but in a CD2 mechanism holding 120 CDs in two stacks. So I wonder if that is different than in e.g. OMT with "typical" round CD magazin. There are some light gates in Rainbow to position the selection sledges. Maybe a malfunction of one of them causes the error?
Happy New Year to everybody.

The trouble turned out to be the 2 supporting rods that the sledge slides up and down on. The lube was old and gritty on both. The left rod also had fine circular wear marks across from each CD. Once I replaced the the left rod and cleaned up the other rod the sledge began to return to the start position every time.
